Our Medium-Hot Breading Mix gives this dirty rice recipe its spicy flavor and great texture.
- 1/4 cup House-Autry Medium-Hot Seasoned Breading Mix
- 1 cup rice
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups water
- 1 pound bulk sausage
- 1/2 medium yellow onion - diced
- 1 rib celery - diced
- 1 tbsp scallion - diced
- 1/2 medium bell pepper
- 1 tsp black pepper
Place rice, salt and water into a saucepan. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to a simmer, cover and let steam for 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a large skillet, combine sausage, onion, celery, scallion and bell pepper; cook over medium heat until sausage has browned and vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes. Drain mixture and sprinkle with House-Autry Medium-Hot Seasoned Breading Mix. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent sticking. Fluff rice with a fork and add to sausage mixture along with the black pepper; mix well. Serve immediately.
