Use your favorite fruit and preserves to make this sweet breakfast pastry that will make any morning better.
- 4 cups House-Autry Buttermilk Biscuit Mix
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 4 ounces (1/2 pkg) cream cheese, softened
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup fresh fruit, roughly chopped
- 1/2 cup fruit preserves
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp milk or cream
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a large baking sheet; set aside. In a large bowl, combine biscuit mix and milk; stir to form a soft dough. Place dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll into a rectangle approximately 15 inches in length and 1/4-inch thick. Place on prepared pan.
Beat together the cream cheese, sugar and egg; pour down the center of dough, spreading towards the sides, but leaving a 2-inch border. Combine fruit and fruit preserves; spread evenly over cream cheese mixture. Fold border towards center until it touches the fruit. Place in oven and bake until golden brown, 25-30 minutes. Cool slightly before drizzling with glaze. Cut into 1-inch slices.
For glaze: Combine ingredients together in a small bowl until well blended. Drizzle over pastry.
