Sausage Balls

The sausage will be easier to work with if it's not real cold. Remove from the refrigerator 10 or 15 minutes before using.

Buttermilk Biscuit Mix
Ingredients
1 pound hot or mild bulk sausage
8 oz sharp cheddar cheese - grated
Directions: 

Mix all ingredients until well blended. If mixture seems dry, add approximately 1/4 cup of water (or enough to make mixture pliable). Roll into 1-inch balls. Place in large shallow baking pan that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Bake at 375°F for 10-15 minutes. Makes about 6 1/2  dozen.

Make these for your next party. Try experimenting with different cheeses and sausages. For example: use hot sausage and pepper jack cheese for some added spice or mild sausage and swiss for a more delicate flavor. They freeze well, too.
