Hushpuppy Mix with Onion
Ingredients
8 hot dogs
1 1/2 cups water
16 skewers
Directions:

Cut hot dogs in half and insert wooden skewers. Place two tablespoons House-Autry Hushpuppy Mix with Onions on a sheet of wax paper. Pour 8 ounces of water into a 2-cup measure. Add remaining dry mix to water; mix well. Let stand for 5 minutes. Dip hot dogs in remaining water; drain excess. Roll hot dogs in dry mix, then dip hot dogs in batter, turning in circular motion until well coated. Submerge hot dogs in enough oil to cover completely. Meal Suggestions:

These make great appetizers! Use the same basic recipe, but use cocktail smokies instead of hot dogs and toothpicks instead of skewers. Fry until puffy and golden brown and dip into mustard. Sure to be a hit at your next party. Another alternative is to cut the hot dogs into small pieces. Batter and fry as directed - with no need for skewers at all!
