Golden Mac ‘n Cheese

This mashup between macaroni ‘n cheese and cornbread will have your family asking for more.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces House-Autry Hushpuppy Mix with Onion
  • 3 cups elbow macaroni (dry)
  • 2 1/2 cups cheddar cheese - grated
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 1/4 cups broth or stock
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1 tsp pepper

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Cook pasta according to package directions; drain and toss with 1 tbsp oil and 1 tsp salt. In a large mixing bowl beat together milk, broth, eggs, sour cream, remaining salt, mustard and pepper. Stir in House-Autry Hushpuppy Mix with Onions and 2 cups cheese; mix well. Fold in macaroni. Pour into a 10-inch cast iron skillet or a casserole dish that has been greased with the remaining oil. Top with 1/2 cup cheese and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until casserole is set and top begins to brown. Allow casserole to set for 5 minutes before serving.
