Fried Green Tomatoes

Fried Green Tomatoes are delicious by themselves, but try topping them with a dollop of Chow Chow Remoulade. Mix together 1/3 cup well-drained chow chow, 1 cup mayonnaise, 1 tsp kosher salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, 2 tsp sugar and 1 tsp chili powder. The sauce also tastes great on sandwiches.

Yellow Plain Corn Meal
Ingredients
5 medium unripe (green) tomatoes
1/2 cup milk or buttermilk
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 cup canola oil
Directions:

Slice tomatoes into 1/4-inch slices. Mix House-Autry Yellow Plain Corn Meal, salt and peppers in a shallow dish. Place milk in a shallow dish. In a frying pan, heat oil over medium heat. Dredge both sides of tomato in corn meal mixture, shaking off excess. Dip into milk. Shake off excess moisture and dredge tomato slices in corn meal mixture once again. Fry in batches until tomatoes begin to soften and turn golden brown in color (2-3 minutes per side). Drain on paper towels.
