Deep Dish Pizza Biscuit Bake

Our buttermilk biscuit mix is a fun alternative to a traditional pizza crust.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups House-Autry Buttermilk Biscuit Mix
  • 1/2 pound ground hamburger or sausage
  • 1/2 pound mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 large bell pepper, chopped
  • 2/3 cup water or milk
  • 1 1/2 cups spaghetti sauce
  • 1 cup cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F. In a medium skillet, sautè meat and vegetables together. Cook until vegetables are soft and meat is no longer pink, about 10 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste; drain and set aside. In a small bowl, combine biscuit mix and water or milk; mix with a fork until well blended. Lightly grease a 2-quart casserole dish. Pour dough into dish; spread evenly to cover. Spread 1 cup of spaghetti sauce over dough. Top with vegetable/meat mixture and cheese. Bake 30 minutes, or until dough has set and top is nicely browned. Allow to sit for 10 minutes before slicing. Top each slice with a spoonful or two of remaining spaghetti sauce.

Chef Tip:

This is a good basic recipe. You may use any meat and/or vegetable combination that you like. We like pepperoni and green onion; mixed vegetables; pineapple, ham and jalapenos - the possibilities are endless!
