Baked Caramel French Biscuits

Our buttermilk biscuit mix means these unique biscuits come out of the oven with the perfect light, fluffy texture.

Ingredients

  • 2 2/3 cups House-Autry Buttermilk Biscuit Mix 8 oz
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 tbsp light corn syrup
  • 6 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 salt salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 425°F. In a medium bowl, combine House-Autry Buttermilk Biscuit Mix and water; stir until blended. Drop 6 equal portions onto a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake until tops are crispy and golden brown, about 11-15 minutes. Remove and cool.

Combine sugar, butter and corn syrup in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat until smooth and thickened, stirring constantly. Coat a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish (or cast iron skillet) with cooking spray. Pour sugar mixture into the dish. Split biscuits and fit tightly into the dish, cut side up, trimming if necessary.

In a medium bowl, combine eggs, milk, vanilla and salt, whisking together well. Pour egg mixture over biscuits. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours. Bake uncovered at 350°F for 45 minutes or until lightly browned. Slice into sections and serve upside-down. Garnish with whipped cream or whipped butter.
